Chattahoochee National Forest 2014 Information
The 2014 Recreational Activity Overview was released this week for all three ranger districts of the Chattahoocheee National Forest. You'll find opening dates for seasonal areas plus current fees. Some attractions are already open.
The link below is for the Blue Ridge Ranger District, which is right in the middle of northern Georgia.
The next two entries are for the Chattooga River Ranger District, to the east, and Conasauga Ranger District to the west.

Blue Ridge Parkway Update
The National Park Service has announced the opening dates for Blue Ridge Parkway facilities.
Things are getting better. Some of the areas that were closed last year will open. For example, you'll be able to picnic by the beautiful James River in Virginia starting May 9th.
There are still a couple of road closures in North Carolina. Check out all the details and start planning your BRP excursion now.

Olympic National Park - 3 Amazing Environments
If you haven't been to Olympic National Park, or simply haven't been there lately, you really should go.
Make a point to go this year. The dam removal project on the Elwha River is mind boggling. Recent rains have slowed down the removal of Glines Canyon Dam, but it should be totally gone by September.
Come to the park to check out the river's new look. While you're there, do a little hiking.

National Parks - Always Spectacular
Americas National Parks are truly spectacular, really worth a visit.
Next month is National Parks Week ... again ... already. Opening weekend, April 19 and 20, is fee free. No charge for entry. There are 3 other no-fee entry days later in the year.

Grandfather Mountain - An Amazing Environment
Start making plans to visit Grandfather Mountain this year. They're open year round.
Visit now and experience the harsh reality of winter on the mountain ... but call ahead for conditions, as there can be weather related closings.
Whenever you decide to visit, be aware that there's been a rate increase for 2014.
